Put Pressure on the Promise

Life is full of empty promises. I would venture to say that on any given day, you will experience a broken promise of one sort or another.

Promises often go unfulfilled in relationships, on the job, from our government, and from our society as a whole. Friends, spouses, family members, and definitely institutions have failed to keep promises. Even worse, we have broken promises we made to ourselves.

From the time we were little, we wanted to belong. We wanted to be a part of a community. We longed for love and acceptance. In order to make that happen, we sometimes found ourselves sacrificing our own feelings of wellbeing to gain that acceptance. We believed the promises.

We feel the impact of these broken promises because of our need to rely on others. That’s how God built us; to be in communion with others. So, as we move through life, we try our best to make connections with others that will stand up through trials and tests. However, we soon realize that people will always let you down. They break those promises. Some do so by deliberately misleading us because it’s to their advantage; others do so because other things come up that are more of a priority to them than their promise to us.

But one day, I made a wonderful discovery! After years of enduring disappointment after disappointment brought on by the broken promises of others, I found One who is a true promise keeper. God has promised us a lot through His Word. As I began to grow my relationship with Him, I discovered that He will never renege on His promises.

His promises strengthen me as I face difficulties. I have prayed and meditated over the following scriptures because they resonated with me at different times. These are just a few:

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 NIV

“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalms 37:4

“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” NLT

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” – Hebrews 10:23

“Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” – Psalm 55:22 NLT

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” – Joshua 1:8 NIV

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” – Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” Matthew 6:34 MSG

When you are going through difficulties in your life, take the time to read the Bible to find the promises of God. Then, focus on whatever you are seeking. Is it for healing, for unfulfilled love, for sustainable income, for family harmony, for peace? Whatever it is, trust in the fact that God is working on your behalf.

In order to achieve the dreams and goals we have set for our lives, we must show true drive and confidence in tackling the necessary steps. How? By going all in!

Put pressure on the promises of God through prayer, meditation, fasting, visualization, affirmation—whatever it takes! This is not the time to be meek and timid. The Bible tells us to “go boldly before the throne of grace”. That means to declare and decree your faith in the promises He made. When you find yourself in despair or desperation, it’s time to go full force in your expectation that God will do what He said He will do.

Remember, our Father God is the ultimate Promise Keeper.

Blessings and Favor,
